Laneway Analytics held the first in its series of learning events in Melbourne yesterday to a packed house at Amazon Web Services’s (AWS) Exhibition St offices.
Laneway Analytics, with its event partners, Amazon Web Services and Tableau, hosted a panel discussion about the ease of setting up and managing a data program for Funds – using the latest technologies and smart, agile partners.
Key points highlighted by the speakers included the importance of Funds owning their own data and building a single source of truth, particularly when working with outsource partners. The challenges of gaining and sustaining buy-in from stakeholders, the difficulties of trusting your data and how to ensure trust is achieved consistently through technology were also explored.
Finally, the message of the difficulty and the importance of building a data driven culture was echoed again, with discussion of how best to achieve this using both technology and process.
Attendees from across the industry joined the audience, including many major Funds and a few of the big service providers, with representation from Northern Trust, NAB, UBS, FNZ, Bravura, Australian Super, HESTA, Hostplus, Care Super, First State Super, Vic Super, CBUS and many more.
The key message from the speakers and that the audience most identified with, is that – the biggest challenge facing Funds today is driving a culture of data use, and the importance of moving your Fund to become a data led decision making organisation.
The interactive breakfast session featured three expert speakers followed by a panel discussion.
